The law requires children's birth certificates and marriage
certificates to have a consular translation with APOSTILLE which makes the document legally recognized in Italy.
This should be done before arriving in Italy.
The permit of stay is applied for at the Immigration Office of the
Police headquarters (questura).
You should expect very long lines.

A work permit visa will be issued by the Italian consulate in
the country of your residency. When the application has been approved you may enter the country.
The VISA to enter
the country must always be collected in person from the Italian Consulate in the country of residency.
A work permit could
take up to 6-8 weeks to process.
