and expensive than the below mentioned alternatives. Trattoria is a cheaper restaurant that once upon a time
used to be placed outside the Cities on the main roads, serving a limited and typical local menu to travellers…
Osterias are even cheaper than a Trattoria. These you will find everywhere and traditionally would serve only wine and
a few cold dishes like cheese, cold cuts and bread. Now the selection is more varied. Rosticceria or Tavola Calda are Rome’s
interpretation of ' Fast foods '. However, you will enjoy the good quality of the food, and the variety that
you'll encounter, all at very reasonable prices. You can make your selections from pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches,
entrees and side dishes. After your tray is complete, you pay the cashier, who also will take your drink
order. (Beer and Wine are usually available) You can dine in high style for around eight or ten €.Tavola
calda offer inside seating, and many even have tables outside. This is a great option when you are short of time and
don't have the opportunity to sit down and dine as Italians usually do.
Opening hours are usually for lunch between noon and three o’clock, and
for dinner between seven and eleven o’clock
